Include your iPhone model, iOS version, app version (at the bottom of Dupelganger Settings), and what happened. Please leave private photos, sensitive documents, passwords and payment details out of your message.
Can I recover photos I cleared?
Open Photos → Recently Deleted, unlock the album if asked, select the items and choose Recover. Photos and videos generally stay there for up to 30 days unless you permanently delete them sooner. If you use iCloud Photos, deletions can sync to your other devices. Dupelganger cannot recover permanently deleted items.
Why hasn’t my free storage changed yet?
Moving photos to Recently Deleted does not immediately release their storage. Space becomes available after iOS permanently removes them or you empty Recently Deleted yourself. Only empty it when you are certain you no longer want those items. Storage figures can take time to update.
Do documents go to Recently Deleted too?
Dupelganger tries to move approved documents to the file provider’s trash. Recovery depends on that provider. If trash is unavailable, the app asks you to confirm permanent removal separately. Check Files → Recently Deleted or your provider’s recovery tools. Keep backups of important documents.
What is free, and what does the unlock include?
Scanning, viewing results and both review modes are free. Your first 10 successful individual item removals are included in one shared starter allowance. The optional $9.99 US one-time purchase unlocks further removals. The allowance is not per group and does not renew monthly. There is no subscription. Apple shows the local price before purchase.
How do I restore my purchase?
Check that Media & Purchases in iPhone Settings uses the same Apple Account that bought the unlock. Connect to the internet, open Dupelganger Settings and tap Restore purchase. If it still does not restore, contact us with the app version and any error message. Never send your Apple password or payment card details.
Why are some photos or lookalikes missing?
The app can only scan photos you have allowed and content available locally. With limited Photos access, the rest of your library is not included. Cloud-only items may need to be downloaded in Photos first. Lookalikes are grouped conservatively using capture time and visual similarity; not every similar image will be grouped. You can adjust Sensitivity in Dupelganger Settings and scan again.
Will Shrink overwrite my original?
Shrink creates a smaller copy and lets you compare it with the original. Removing the original is a separate choice. Re-encoding can change quality and metadata, so check the result before clearing the original. A file that is already efficiently compressed may offer little saving.
Does saved screenshot text remain after I clear the image?
Saved text cards can remain in the app after the original screenshot is cleared. They are stored locally. You can turn off screenshot search in Dupelganger Settings to remove entries from iPhone search. Deleting the app removes its local cards; exported text and backups must be managed separately.
How do I stop the monthly reminders?
Open Dupelganger Settings and turn off Check once a month. You can also disable notifications for Dupelganger in iPhone Settings. You can still scan manually.
How do I request a refund?
Visit Apple’s Report a Problem website, sign in with the purchasing Apple Account and follow the refund request steps. Apple determines eligibility under its policies and applicable law. The unlock is a one-time purchase, so there is no subscription to cancel.
