Privacy Policy

Effective September 5, 2026

Dupelganger is built so that we cannot see your data. This policy is short because there is very little to disclose.

What we collect

Nothing. Every comparison — duplicate photos, lookalikes, screenshots, large videos, repeated documents — runs on your iPhone. Dupelganger never uploads your photos, your documents, the text inside them, or their metadata. There are no accounts, no analytics SDKs, no advertising identifiers, and no third-party tracking of any kind.

How permissions are used

Photos access is used only to read your library so it can be scanned, and to move the items you confirm to Recently Deleted. Files access is limited to the folders you pick yourself, and is used only to scan those folders for duplicate documents. Optional notifications — the monthly check reminder — are scheduled locally on the device; nothing is sent through a server.

Sharing

We have nothing to share. Your library never leaves the device, so there is nothing to sell, transfer, or hand to a third party — and we do none of those things.

Purchases

The one-time unlock is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We receive no payment details. Apple's privacy policy applies to the purchase, and it restores through your Apple account.

Retention and deleting your data

Scan results, review progress and settings are kept on the device only, for as long as the app is installed. Delete the app and every piece of its data goes with it. Photos you cleared sit in Photos' Recently Deleted for 30 days, under Apple's control rather than ours, and can be put back from there.

Children

Dupelganger is not directed at children and collects no personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes

If any of the above changes, this page and its effective date change with it.
