Privacy Policy

Our commitment to privacy

Expiro is designed with privacy as a core principle. Your personal documents and data should remain yours alone. Expiro processes and stores your documents on your device (or, if you turn on the optional iCloud Sync feature, in your own iCloud account; see “iCloud Sync” below), and the only thing it sends off the device is usage statistics tagged with a random per-install ID (see “Analytics” below).

Data collection

We do not collect any personal data, and we never collect your document content. Expiro works without an account, a login or any personal information.

Specifically, we do not collect:

  • Your name, email or contact information
  • Photos or images of your documents
  • Document contents, names or expiration dates
  • Location data
  • Advertising identifiers (IDFA), or any identifier tied to you personally

We do collect usage statistics (for example, “a scan happened”) tagged with a random per-install ID. “Analytics” below says exactly what that does and does not include, and how to turn it off.

Data storage

Everything you enter into Expiro, including document images, names and expiration dates, is stored on your device using Apple’s secure data storage frameworks. This data:

  • Never leaves your device unless you turn on the optional iCloud Sync feature
  • Is not uploaded to any cloud service we operate
  • Is not accessible to us or any third party
  • Is protected by your device’s security features (passcode, Face ID, Touch ID)

iCloud Sync (optional)

Expiro can sync your documents across your own devices using iCloud. This is off by default and only turns on if you enable it in the app’s Settings. When it is on, your documents sync end-to-end through your own iCloud account, on Apple’s infrastructure, not ours, and we never see or have access to that data.

Document scanning

When you scan a document, Expiro uses Apple’s on-device Vision framework to read the text and, where available, Apple’s on-device intelligence model to help pick out the dates. This happens entirely on your device: no images or document text are sent to any server, including our analytics server.

Analytics

Analytics use a random per-install ID (not linked to your identity, no tracking) and record screen and purchase events, device model, iOS version, region, App Store country and currency. They are sent to our own analytics server (pulse.stackcurious.com); no third-party analytics SDK is used. Analytics never include names, document numbers or document images. The per-install ID is also attached to App Store purchases so a purchase can be matched to its install; it is never linked to your Apple ID, email address or any other personal identifier, and is not used for tracking or advertising.

This is on by default, and you can turn it off at any time in the app: Settings → Privacy → Share Analytics.

Notifications

Reminders use Apple’s local notifications. They are scheduled on your device and involve no external server.

Third-party services

Expiro sends usage analytics to its own server (see “Analytics”) and uses Apple’s App Store for purchases, which Apple’s privacy policy governs. We do not integrate any advertising or tracking service, and we do not sell or share your data with anyone.

In-app purchases

Purchases are processed by Apple’s App Store. We never see your payment information.

Deleting your data

Your data is on your device, so you control it:

  • Delete a single document: open it and tap Delete. Its reminders are cancelled too.
  • Delete everything: Settings → Data & Export → Clear All Documents.
  • Uninstalling Expiro removes the data stored on that device.
  • If you turned on iCloud Sync, a copy is kept in your own iCloud account, which you manage in your iPhone’s iCloud settings.

Children’s privacy

Expiro does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. The app is meant for general audiences who need to track document expiry dates.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes are posted on this page with a new date. Continuing to use Expiro after a change means you accept the updated policy.
