Privacy Policy

DepreScan is designed so your most personal information stays with you. This policy explains what the app uses, where it stays, and the choices available to you.

1. Scope and summary

This Privacy Policy applies to the DepreScan iPhone application and this website, operated by Stack Curious LLC(“DepreScan,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).

The short version

DepreScan does not operate user accounts or a backend that receives your name, photos, reflections, check-ins, or HealthKit data. Those items are processed and stored locally on your device.

DepreScan is a self-reflection tool. It is not a diagnosis, medical device, treatment service, crisis line, or substitute for professional care.

2. Information the app uses

Information you provide

  • An optional first name.
  • Anchor and weekly photos that you select or capture.
  • Quiz answers, selected life ingredients, distance values, step outcomes, and optional written reflections.
  • Notification time, journey length, and other app preferences.

This information is stored locally using Apple’s on-device storage technologies. DepreScan does not intentionally transmit it to Stack Curious LLC.

Optional HealthKit information

If you grant permission, DepreScan reads sleep and activity information from Apple Health so it can draw an optional context ribbon on your Road. Health access is read-only, can be skipped, and can be revoked in iPhone Settings. DepreScan does not use HealthKit information for advertising, marketing, eligibility decisions, or data mining.

Purchase information

Apple processes subscriptions and payment details. Through StoreKit, the app can receive product information and entitlement status such as whether Plus is active and an access expiration date. We do not receive your full payment-card details.

Website information

This website does not use advertising trackers, cookies, accounts, or form processing. It uses Vercel Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies and does not identify you. If you email us, your email provider and ours process the address and content you choose to send so we can respond.

3. How information is used

On-device information is used only to provide features you request, including:

  • Displaying your Anchor inside Wick and along the Road.
  • Calculating and smoothing your self-reported distance.
  • Selecting practical steps and adapting their effort.
  • Recording milestones, weekly comparisons, and retired Anchors.
  • Showing safety resources when optional text matches a bundled safety phrase.
  • Scheduling the one daily notification you choose.
  • Confirming access to DepreScan+ features.

Safety phrase matching is performed on device before normal journey processing. It is rule-based and is not a clinical risk assessment.

4. Sharing and third parties

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your photos, reflections, check-ins, or HealthKit data with advertisers, analytics providers, data brokers, or social networks.

DepreScan relies on Apple platform services that you choose to use:

  • Apple Photos and Camera provide images you select or capture.
  • Apple HealthKit provides optional read-only health information after permission.
  • Apple StoreKit processes purchases, restores, and subscription status.
  • Apple UserNotifications schedules local reminders on your device.
  • Phone and Messages open only when you choose a crisis contact action.

Apple handles information under its own privacy terms. DepreScan does not control data that you choose to send through Phone, Messages, Mail, or an external crisis service.

We may disclose information contained in support correspondence if required by law or necessary to protect legal rights. Because journey data is not sent to our servers, we generally do not possess it to disclose.

5. Retention and deletion

Journey information remains on your device until you delete it in DepreScan Settings, delete the app, or the device or operating system removes the app’s storage. We do not maintain a server copy and cannot restore local journey data for you.

Using Delete everythingremoves the local profile, photos, entries, assigned steps, milestones, and weekly snapshots, and cancels DepreScan’s scheduled notification. It does not cancel an Apple subscription. Subscription cancellation is managed through your Apple account.

Support emails are retained only as long as reasonably needed to answer the request, maintain a support record, meet legal obligations, and prevent abuse. You may ask us to delete support correspondence, subject to applicable legal requirements.

6. Your privacy choices

  • Skip the name field and optional written reflections.
  • Use Apple’s limited photo picker or take a photo without granting broad library access.
  • Decline or revoke HealthKit access without losing the core journey.
  • Decline notifications or change their time.
  • Replace an Anchor or delete all local information in Settings.
  • Manage or cancel a subscription through Apple.
  • Email hello@stackcurious.com about support correspondence or this policy.

Because DepreScan has no account or server copy of your journey, we cannot access, export, correct, or delete device-only data remotely. You control it directly in the app and through iOS permissions.

7. Children

DepreScan is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect children’s personal information through a server. App availability and age rating may vary by region. Parents and guardians should consider whether a self-reflection product is appropriate for a young person and should use professional or emergency resources when needed.

8. Security and device responsibility

Keeping journey data on device reduces transmission and centralized-storage risk, but no storage system is perfectly secure. Your information is also protected by the security of your iPhone, passcode, Apple account, backups, and operating system. Keep your device and iOS up to date and use an appropriate device passcode.

DepreScan is not responsible for access that occurs because a device is shared, unlocked, compromised, or restored through an Apple service outside our control.

9. Policy changes

We may update this policy when the product, law, or Apple platform requirements change. We will change the effective date above and provide additional notice when a material change requires it. Continued use after an update is subject to the revised policy.
