Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 5, 2026
RateRadar is built with privacy as a foundational principle. This policy explains exactly what the app does and does not do with your information.
What we do not collect
- We do not use analytics SDKs.
- We do not track you across apps or websites.
- We do not require an account, email address, or login.
- We do not sell, share, or transmit any personal data to third parties.
- We do not display advertising of any kind.
Data stored on your device
- Watchlist and preferences.Your selected currencies, home currency, and settings are stored locally using Apple's SwiftData framework, and may sync across your own devices via iCloud if you have iCloud enabled.
- Cached rates. Exchange rates and historical series fetched from public APIs are cached locally so the app works offline.
- Burn rate entries. Expenses you log in Nomad Mode are stored only on your device.
- Location. When you enable Nomad Mode, Location Services are used on-device to detect your current country. This location data is never transmitted to our servers — there are no RateRadar servers. Only the resulting country code is used locally to pick your default currency.
Third-party services we call
RateRadar fetches public data from the following services. These requests contain no personal information — only the currency pair or date range being queried:
- Frankfurter (api.frankfurter.dev) — exchange rates sourced from the European Central Bank.
- Open Exchange Rates (open.er-api.com) — fallback rate source.
- Trading Economics (api.tradingeconomics.com) — economic calendar events via public guest credentials.
Purchases
The optional RateRadar Pro upgrade is processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details. Purchase entitlement is validated through Apple's StoreKit framework.
Children's privacy
RateRadar does not knowingly collect information from anyone, and is safe for users of any age.
Changes
If this policy materially changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Since we collect nothing, material changes are unlikely.
