Frequently Asked Questions

Is Prayer Request a subscription?

No. Prayer Request is a one-time purchase of $9.99. You pay once and keep it forever. No recurring charges, no trials that auto-renew, no hidden tiers.

Do I need an account?

No. There is no sign-up, no email, no password. Your requests are identified by an anonymous device hash that never leaves your device in reversible form.

What happens when I share a request to the community?

It goes through an automated safety check (blocking PII, spam, and harmful content) and, if approved, appears in the anonymous community feed. You can delete it anytime from within the app — open the request and tap the "⋯" menu → Delete.

Does the community see my name?

No. There are no names, usernames, or profiles in Prayer Request. When someone prays for your post, they see the request body and category — nothing else. When they tap "I prayed", you see a count go up. That's the whole social graph.

How do the verses and prayers get generated?

When you submit a request, your text is sent to our server, which calls a large-language-model provider (GPT-5.4-nano, with Claude as fallback) to generate a relevant Bible verse and a short personal prayer in your preferred translation and tradition. Nothing is stored beyond what's needed to send you the response.

How do I delete a request I no longer want?

Recent requests are on the Home (Yours) tab. Long-press a card for a Delete option, or open the request and use the ⋯ menu. If the request was shared publicly, deleting also removes it from the community feed.

How do I restore my purchase on a new device?

Open Settings inside the app → tap "Restore Purchase." This re-verifies with Apple and unlocks the app on your new device, as long as you're signed into the same Apple ID.

Does this work offline?

Mostly. You can browse saved verses and prayers offline. Generating a new verse or posting to the community requires an internet connection.

Which translations and traditions are supported?

Translations: NIV (default), ESV, KJV, NLT, NASB, CSB. Traditions: Non-denominational (default), Catholic, Orthodox, Protestant, Just Christian. Change both in Settings at any time.

What about crisis content?

If your request signals an active crisis — self-harm, suicidal ideation, abuse in progress, or immediate danger — the app shows region-appropriate crisis resources immediately, and the request is never published to the community feed, regardless of the share toggle.

Troubleshooting

My purchase isn't showing as unlocked

Open Settings → "Restore Purchase." This re-verifies with Apple. Make sure you are signed into the same Apple ID you used to purchase.

My shared request isn't showing up in the Community feed

Pull down to refresh. If it's still not there, it may have been flagged by moderation — that can happen if the request contained PII or content the moderator judged unsafe. Try again with the personal details removed.

Voice isn't transcribing

Make sure you've granted Microphone and Speech Recognition permissions in iOS Settings → Prayer Request. Transcription runs on-device when possible for privacy.
